Hospital Policies

Appointments

In order to provide adequate time for each patient and for our scheduled surgeries, we see patients by appointment.

Emergency cases will always have priority. However, even in case of an emergency, we recommend you give us a quick call. This allows us to prepare for your arrival. If the doctor is in surgery or otherwise unavailable, we can help you find someone who can see you immediately.

Elective surgeries must be scheduled in advance.

Payment

Payment of all fees is expected at the time services are performed, or in the case of hospitalized patients, when they are discharged from the hospital. You are encouraged to discuss fees before services are performed. We will be happy to provide an estimate for any service.

We accept cash, personal checks, debit cards, VISA, and MasterCard. We also accept Care Credit, a medical payment card. You can apply ahead of time at www.carecredit.com or in our office. If approved, you can finance 100% of your bill for 6 months with no interest.

Patient Arrival

For the protection of patients and clients, we require that all dogs be on a leash and under the control of the owner while in the waiting room and exam room. Cats must be on a leash or confined in a carrier.

Surgery

For all scheduled surgical procedures, the patient should not have food or water after midnight before the morning of the surgery. We would like patients to be dropped off at our hospital between 8-9 am on the morning of surgery. They can also be dropped off the afternoon before, if that is more convenient.

Most of our surgery is done in the early afternoon. This gives us time to perform necessary lab work and give pre-surgical drugs in the morning.

We recommend lab work for all patients undergoing anesthesia and require it for those patients 8 years and older. This helps us to provide safe anesthesia for your pet.

For most surgeries, we will keep the patient overnight. This allows them to go home without any residual grogginess from anesthesia. We can also evaluate if further pain control measures are needed for home.

Boarding

We offer boarding as a service to our clients. We require that all boarded pets be up to date on vaccines. If your pet has received vaccinations somewhere else, please bring those records with you. Boarders with fleas or ticks will be treated on admission with an appropriate product.

We provide all food, bowls, bedding and treats. If your pet is on a special diet, you may want to bring it with you. We discourage bringing bedding from home, as it too easily gets mixed in with that from the kennel, but a favorite toy is always welcome!
